A Christmas Make-Up Look

I can feel it.. A less than 10 days left to celebrate the best holiday of the winter season: Christmas! I almost enjoy the ride to it just as much as the Christmas days itself due to all the Christmas decoration, Christmas shopping, and of course the make-up and fashion that comes along with it. Today I wanted to share a typical and classic Negin x Christmas make-up look. It involves a subtle smokey eye, a nice contour and highlight of the face, and of course the perfect red lip!

Instead of taking photos we came up with a fun twist: a stop-motion video. Which basically consist out of lots of photos and makes it look like a little video. I think it's something different compared to a few photos and I hope you enjoy it. Also notice with these kind of stop-motion video's there's absolutely no editing done on my skin and make-up. I will now explain exactly which products I used in every step.

Make-up Base
Before we started taking photos I already had a makeup base on. To me this consist out of foundation and filling in my brows with a pencil. For foundation I used Face and Body by Mac. I also love to apply this foundation on my legs in the winter months as well when I'm wearing a dress for the holiday's. It takes exercise to apply this foundation though. For my Brows I used Chanel Eyebrow Pencil in brown Natural.

Eyes
For my eyes I used my trusty Urban Decay Naked Palette. I started off by using the shade 'naked' all over the eye lid. Because I think a little shimmer is great for a holiday make-up look I decided to mix the colors 'smog' and 'dark horse' and apply it on the outer corner of my eyelid and in the crease. Then on the middle part of the eye lid I applied the perfect gold shade 'half baked' to make it even more festive. A I also applied a little of the crease color underneath my under eye lashes.

I finished off my eyes with eyeliner and mascara using Estée Lauder Double wear in Black and the L'Oréal Telescopic Mascara. If you decide to go for a more dramatic look with fake eyelashes I recommend checking out my favorite ones by Mac in number 7.

Contour & Highlight
I absolutely love a good contour and highlight for any special occasion. Foundation normally camouflages the natural shapes of your face so I feel contouring is more of a necessity when you apply foundation first.

I always start with contouring. Depending on how precise you want your contouring to be you have to use a small or medium sized brush. I use a small brush first to achieve a clear contour shade. Then I get a larger brush to blend out all the harsh edges and therefore to make it appear more natural. For contouring I've been using Bahama Mama by The Balm. ps. make sure to use a contour/bronzer shade that is matte because it will look more natural.

Although I like my contour powder to be matte my highlighter should contain a subtle shimmer. For the longest time I used Soft and Gentle by Mac. But now I think the shimmer is to hard so instead I use Albatross by Nars. I apply this on the highest points of my cheekbones and on the bridge of my nose. If you would like your upper lip to appear bigger I would suggest applying a little highlighter on your cupid bows.

Lips and Nails
And then my favorite step. Finsishing off the make-up look with the perfect red lip and a festive nail polish. To achieve a perfect red lip I of course used my Chanel Rouge Coco in the color 'Rivoli'. And to achieve a more glossy look I applied Maybeline Super Stay 24 color in 'Cherry Pie' on top of it. For my nails I wanted a festive champagne color with a subtle glitter, so I applied OPI's Cosmo-not tonight honey! A
